Cow Shows are truly a great time. When somebody asks what exactly a cow show is, I never truly know how to describe it. I usually say something like, "it is a dog show, except for cows." For me, the best part of the cow show isn't the actual show, but meeting up with friends from around the country that I may only see a few times a year. Wurzbach Farms attends about only three or four cattle shows every year, but we still have friendships with other showmen all year long. Showing cattle is more than "a dog show for cows."

KILE stands for The Keystone International Livestock Exposition. KILE is the largest livestock show on this side of the Mississippi River. KILE hosts many different breeds of cattle, one of which is Scottish Highlands. Our farm did not bring any of our cattle to the show this year, but I was still given the opportunity to show. H&H Cattle, Chet and Marjie Hartz, allowed me to show one of their heifers, H&H Bailee for showmanship, then again in the open show. This picture is from showmanship class when I was against Jordan Vance from OH and Ryanne Hoffman from PA. They are both fantastic showmen who have bright futures ahead of them!

I love cattle shows and cannot wait until the next one comes up. For me, the next cattle show I will attend is going to be at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO. The NWSS is in January, and I will be there from January 18-21. I have never been to the national show before, so I am very excited!! Here are some more pictures from the KILE.
