Classroom Management for Student Teachers (aka dummies)

Please don't take offense to the title of this blog. As student teachers, we are dummies when it comes to classroom management. It is hard to know how to control a classroom in the beginning, especially for not having too much experience in the classroom management realm.
After this week's readings, I feel a little closer to being prepared for classroom management. The general rule of thumb from all of the resources I found is to start strict, than start to loosen up. With this in mind, the first day of school is crucial in keeping the remainder of the student teaching placement enjoyable for both sides. Here are some helpful hints and clues from this week's readings.
3-2-1 Blog Success
3- Identify 3 relevant connections to your student teaching internships
Separate the action of the student from the person of the student
Never make threats, instead make promises
Allow for student reasoning and explanation behind an event before taking corrective action
2- Identify 2 connections to other courses that are part of your #TeachAg Journey
ERCH 112: Intro to Early Childhood at Millersville taught me the importance of classroom management at the elementary level
EDFN 320: Technology in Education at Millersville was taught my Mr. Bower. He did a fantastic job of incorporating various classroom management techniques into our classroom instruction.
1 – Identify the Triangulated Connection (w/ citation!)
For my extra connection, I decided on this TED talk on what makes good teachers great. Check it out!
