National FFA Week was in full swing at Oley Valley this week. Line dancing, Yellow House fundraiser, Teacher Appreciation, and Community Breakfast are just a few of this week's activities. Coffee was my best friend through this week!
On Monday, students, teachers, and community members were invited to participate in a local restaurant's fundraiser. I attended and sat with the Deysher family. I had so much fun and the food was delicious! Tuesday morning students delivered mushrooms and apples to all of the teachers around the entire school district. In the afternoon, students took a trip to Conrad Weiser school district to compete in the various public speaking CDE's. I had a great time visiting with Amanda and learning more about their program. Friday brought the end of FFA week with a breakfast for the community and teachers. What a fantastic week!
In the classroom this week, I started to teach plant science during periods 4 and 8. My schedule is very full, teaching a full-time ag teacher schedule. Next week, I start to teach at the middle school for 1 and 2 period. I am excited to get to teach such a great group of kids!
This week, I had my first referral. It was a little hard to have to write up a student, but I am ready to write out more if I need to now in the future. If students are not doing what they are supposed to be doing to an extreme, I will start writing more students up.
Now, for my questions. For teachers who have taught greenhouse management, what are some of your favorite lessons that you taught in greenhouse? I want to make learning fun for all of my students!
This week was a little hectic, but I am ready for next week's low-stress week. There are not any after school FFA activities, so I plan on working on lesson plans for the rest of the semester. Let's go!
