How do we do PAAE Eastern Region Meeting online?

Zoom calls have become the new normal. This week, I participated in the Eastern Region PAAE meeting through zoom. With everything that is going on in the world, it was nice to meet with other ag teachers from the area to see the progress of the organization and tie up any loose ends.
As a student teacher, I think it is important to see all of the responsibilities of being an ag teacher. It is so much more than teaching agricultural topics in the classroom. During this meeting, individuals received updates on classroom instruction, SAE, FFA, the Ag Ed Commission, and many other topics.
I found it very exciting to hear the Lancaster Farming will be sharing current event topics to ag teachers to be able to use through this global pandemic. The agriculture industry has been rocked very hard during this time and Lancaster Farming has been on the frontlines to report. I would be happy to use their resources to students in the future.
With a report from the Ag Ed Commission, I learned what some expectations are from industry professionals. In terms of agriculture mechanics, students need a better understanding of hydraulics, diesel, and electronics for jobs after graduation. The commission is working to find ways to help teachers learn more about these topics.
Despite having the meeting in a digital format, I was able to learn about great resources available for teachers and students. When I become a teacher in the future, I will definitely put the PAAE meetings on my to-do list! Thank you to the Eastern Region for inviting and allowing me into your spring meeting!
